Earn and Learn

 

General Objective:

The Project contributes to the educational components of the Lebanese Government's road-map of priority interventions for stabilization of the country and to mitigating the impacts of the Syrian conflict.

 

Project outcome/Specific Objective:

The project seeks to contribute to the Lebanese Government's Roadmap of Priority Interventions for stabilisation of the country and to the mitigation of the impacts of the Syrian conflict on Lebanon. Community outreach working with families from the target group, along with a special work programme for young unemployed people aim to improve the situation of the target group in Chouf District, Mount Lebanon, and thereby contribute to social stability in the host municipalities.

 

Target group:

50 young people aged between 16 and 25

 

Project Outputs:

  • At least 10,000 trees have been planted on land owned by local municipalities, which then look after the trees (verification through written agreement on hand-over of planted seedlings).
  • 50 young people have acquired skills as peer educators in ecological issues and knowledge of gardening and landscaping, enabling them to remain actively involved in ecological initiatives in the region and to find paid work .

 

Activities:

  • A Learn and Earn programme for 50 young people in which 10,000 trees will be planted and suitable irrigation provided for the trees in the initial stage.
  • Training of 50 young people as peer educators to stimulate the interest of their peers for ecological issues and resource conservation.
